ESC Gives Back by Assisting Lutheran Social Services' Food Pantry in Columbus

Team ESC (Electronic Systems Consultants LLC) of Greater Ohio took time out of a busy schedule to assist the Lutheran Social Services food pantry.

"I believe in paying forward our appreciation to the greater Columbus community for being so good to us as a OMBE firm," says John Larkin, ESC Senior Partner. Our employees assisted the pantry in handing out food to those of the community who are presently less fortunate than we are."

The Lutheran Social Services provides food at the Champion Avenue Food Pantry for people in need. Groups from Gethsemane stock shelves and assist the families in selecting food for balanced meals. We also regularly collect food and funds for the Food Pantry.

"It was a great opportunity to work with an organization within our work community to help give back and support people in need," says Larkin. "After it was over, I treated 'Team ESC' to dinner at the Eagle on North High in Columbus."

The pantry also collects non-perishable food year round for the pantry. Volunteers like ESC are occasionally needed to deliver donated goods to the Champion Avenue site. If you would like more information about volunteering at the food pantry, contact the Mission and Ministry Committee, or if you're someone in need of food, you can contact the LSS Food Pantry by calling 614-443-5130 or by visiting them at 1460 S. Champion Avenue, in Columbus, OH. You also can find additional information on the pantry at http://www.lssco.org.

Larkin spent fourteen weeks on the campus of Tri-C studying a business and management curriculum designed by Babson College, a top-ranked school for entrepreneurial education.

“This was a great opportunity and experience for me as a small business owner looking to expand and grow my company,” says Larkin. “The course is designed to take you away during normal business hours to work on your company and not in your company. It helped me focus on a short and long-term business plan that will be implemented immediately.”

ESC is a Proud Sponsor of the Summit County Outreach Initiative

ESC Senior Partner John Larkin, shown with Summit Magazine’s Bob Lanier, attended the Summit County Outreach Initiative on December 6th along with other business executives and county officials. The semi-annual event, an initiative of Summit Magazine, was held at the Tangiers in Akron.

The purpose of the event is to network and learn about the many opportunities that exist in Summit County, including county government and other concerns, such as Suma Health, the Chamber of Commerce, and others. Here John Larkin met with decision makers in county offices and select end-users, in addition to networking with other small business owners.

“We routinely partner with Summit Magazine to sponsor the event. It gives us a unique opportunity to get to know important Summit County officials as well as other business executives. I’ve been involved with this event for the past two years,” says Larkin. “There were approximately 50 individuals at this 3- to 4-hour meeting who represent both public and private interests.”
According to Larkin, the County is committed to connecting small business owners with opportunities to work with the county and to grow their companies. The next meeting will be held at Quaker Station on April 26, 2017. It’ll e the third annual Greater Summit, Business Conference & Expo Hosted by the University of Akron.
